Wooden Outdoor Child Play Houses
The ancient tradition of child playhouses lives on; in fact, if anything, it continues to grow. As we try to keep our children occupied during weekends and summer holidays, encouraging them to play outside as much as possible, and away from the television, becomes a priority.
Left to their own devices, and with a very large, rambling garden, children will probably construct some sort of play house anyway. Using fallen branches, large leaves and whatever else they can find, their own private hideaway is likely to appear at some stage. So why not anticipate that desire and put up a safe and good quality playhouse that will last for years if well cared for?
The choice range is enormous these days, with some delightful designs. All the play houses pictured here are from a UK based company. The play house shown top left is elevated on stilts, an extra attraction for playful children. Called a Stork Value play house, this child hideaway is 6ft by 6ft, and comes with all the safety features you would expect from a paly house built to European safety standards.
The second picture (above left), is a very smart Treetops Angelica Cottage play house. From the outside, this really looks like a home from home. It even has a chimney, window boxes and shutters, giving it a real country cottage feel, yet with all the practical necessities of safety conscious parents.
The third and final picture is of another Treetops play house, this time the Huckleberry. This medium sized playhouse is made from Swedish timber. This building is supplied untreated and unpainted with a standard felt roof. The felt tiles and paint effects pictured in both Treetops play houses are to illustrate what can be done to personalise the building.
